Travel Funds Committee

The Travel Funds Committee allocates funds from the Graduate College to graduate student applicants for the purpose of presenting their graduate work at meetings, symposia, conferences, or other professional or academic gatherings. The committee works tirelessly to make the applciation process easy and streamlined. This committee also helps graduate students identify other University-based funding sources. Committee Report on Oct 7, 2009 

 Travel Funds committe Chairs would like to report that the first Fall 2009 application deadline for GSS Travel Funds was on September 24. We received close to 100 applications and are in the process of reviewing them. In case of questions about application results, please advise your constituents that the reviews will be completed within 3 to 4 weeks following the deadline. Thank you to all the reviewers who helped with the applications. We couldn't have done it without you!

As a reminder, Travel Funds Committee holds actual meetings for review sessions. In order to maintain membership in good standing, a member cannot miss more than ONE committee meeting during a given semester.

 The remaining GSS Travel Funds deadlines for the 2009 fiscal year are on Thursdays, 11:59pm, as follows: Nov 19, Feb 18, Apr 22, May 20, July 8.

Committee Report on Sept, 2009

Travel Funds GSS Committee chairs would like to welcome back all returning senators and especially committee members. We would also like to welcome all new senators. We hope all of you had a great summer and are full of energy to start the new study year. We received close to 60 applications for the last (July 2009) round. Over thirty percent of them were funded. Thank you to the following reviewers for their time and effort in reviewing the summer round of applications: Nirmalla Barros, Ben Galluzzo, Chiemi Hanzawa, Stephen Kaeppler, Yelena Mejova, Alexandra Nica, Jacqueline Smits, Sara Stasik.  

 The GSS Travel Funds deadlines for the 2009 fiscal year are on Thursdays, 11:59pm, as follows: Sept 24, Nov 19, Feb 18, Apr 22, May 20, July 8.

The committee meetings (reviews) will be held on Wednesdays following the actual application deadline dates as follows: Sept 30, Nov 25, Feb 24, Apr 28, May 26, July 14. The meeting place is currently being discussed with the Information Technology services and will be announced to the committee members when confirmed.

 We are looking forward to a great year.

Committee Meetings: 

Committee meetings (application reviews) traditionally take place at 5:30 p.m. on the Wednesday immediately following a submission deadline.

The meetings are held generally on Wednesdays, at 5:30 pm, in Schaeffer Hall, room S41.

Meetings are scheduled for the following dates (locations TBD):

  • TUESDAY, December 1, 2009, 5:30 - 9pm *note this change* - to avoid conflict with GSS meeting on Wed
