James Buchholz. His patience and keen insights have helped me through many challenges and made this a very rich experience. I will do well if I can use part of what he has taught me.

Brief thesis project description: 
Our work examines the hydrodynamics of flow around small aspect ratio obstacles, such as mussels. It is motivated by the need for a better understanding of transport mechanisms in fresh water mussel populations.We found something interesting that no one has seen before.

Why did you decide to go to graduate school?: 
To be a teacher.
Why did you choose The University of Iowa for your graduate studies?: 
Because it has one of the largest best group in the world in water engineering called IIHR: Iowa institute of hydraulics research
What are your long term goals beyond your graduate degree at Iowa?: 
I plan on completing post-doctoral work after I complete my PhD. From there I am interested in working for a consulting engineer.
How has your experience at Iowa allowed you to achieve your goals?: 
Working at IIHR has become an integral part of my day. I absolutely love it! The best experience I have had at a IIHR anywhere.
