Legislative Action

Your voice as a student at The University of Iowa is instrumental to this debate. Please make your voice heard!

Here is how (Tips for writing legislators):

  • Show a direct and compelling negative impact of the proposed funding cuts. Try to integrate the negative impacts with the key issues (listed above) that legislators are focused on.

For example, maybe your research or future career will address one of those issues. Or maybe as a graduate student you are trying to help solve one of those social problems.

  • Be succinct (several sentences—no more than a short paragraph)
  • As a student, use your uiowa.edu email to contact legislators.
  • Feel free to use our letter template if you are having trouble crafting your own message.
