2025 Jakobsen Conference: Call for Artworks (Application Deadline: Friday, December 20, 2024)

We are seeking artist submissions for the 2025 Annual James F. Jakobsen Graduate Conference which will take place on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, from noon to 5 pm in the Iowa Memorial Union. The Jakobsen Conference is an annual event to promote graduate student research and interdepartmental communication at the University of Iowa.

Artist eligibility criteria:

The selected artist can be any student at the University of Iowa, not limited to any one study area.

Students enrolled in any college of the university may submit artwork for consideration.

Theme: Connected by Curiosity, Driven by Discovery.

The submission may be an existing work, a new work, or a conceptual piece.

It should be a two-dimensional work that can be formatted to fit on posters and brochures.

The artwork will be featured on the cover of the conference brochure.

We will contact you about specific sizing and resolution requirements if your artwork is selected.

Additionally, we can provide the artist with significant promotion and advertising benefits including the promotion of artwork, artist’s biography & contact information, and a link on our website until the end of the conference.

Deadline for submission is December 20th, 2024 (Friday, 11:59 pm)

• In the subject headline, please indicate “Jakobsen Conference Art Submission”

Looking for a chance to present your research?

The Jakobsen Graduate Development Series is hosting a Research Showcase on March 29, 2025. More information will be available soon.

Presentations can include posters, oral talks, a short performance, or art display. If you need money to help with the cost of any part of your presentation, please indicate that on your registration and we will follow up.

Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided throughout the showcase.
